Overview

Tempest Import Policies are a quick and secure way to automatically populate your software catalog with resources from your infrastructure and service providers. These policies allow you to define how resources are imported and managed, ensuring your catalog is always up to date with the current state of your resources.

Creating an Import Policy

Import policies are quickly configurable in the Tempest UI.

1

Go to the Import & Sync page

Navigate to Import & Sync from the left navigation menu.

2

Choose your provider

Select your provider from the list of available providers. If you don’t see your provider listed, or want to import resources from your internal software, you can create a Private App. You can also request a new app from Tempest.

3

Configure your import policy

Configuring an import policy is simple:

  1. Set a name and description for your import policy.
  2. Add credentials for your provider.
  3. Choose the resource type you want this policy to import.
  4. Optionally, choose to sync all resources of this type
  5. Or, choose specific resources of this type to import.

Adding additional providers and resources

If you don’t see your provider listed, or want to import resources from your internal software, you have two options:

  • Create a Private App: You can develop your own app to import resources from your internal software.
  • Request a new app: You can request a new app from Tempest. Learn more about requesting a new app.
