Private Apps

A Private App is an app that you or developers in your organization builds exclusively for your Tempest organization. You can use Private Apps to add resources that your organization’s users can create recipes with, and deploy using projects. Apps provide an almost unlimited set of possibilities for extended your Tempest developer platform to cover additional infrastructure or software development tool.

Private apps are self-hosted, and communicate with Tempest over a secure API. Because they are self-hosted, you have complete control over the instrumentation of your Private App and how it interacts with your internal systems and networks.

Tempest enables you to bring any tooling into a unified developer experience. With Private Apps, you can:

• Manage your Private App alongside Tempest apps
• Configure your apps in recipes
• Automatically import data about your apps into Tempest for audit and tracking
• Offer developer-self serve for your app

In addition to building your app using the SDK and CLI, you can manage your Private App in your Tempest web console. There you can:

• Track adoption and usage of your Private App across your organization
• Publish new versions of your app
• Support multiple simultaneously active versions of your app
• Control access to your Private App
• Sunset your apps as your needs change
